Silk is more than a fabric — it’s a touch of luxury, a delicate treasure that deserves mindful care. Follow these recommendations to preserve the natural lustre, softness, and silhouette of your dress for years to come.
1. Professional Dry Cleaning
For complete safety and longevity, we recommend professional dry cleaning, especially for dresses with intricate cuts or multilayered fabrics. Note: Avoid treating stains at home. Always inform your cleaner about the origin of the stain to ensure proper care.
2. At-Home Care (only if permitted by the care label)
• Hand wash in cold or lukewarm water (up to 30°C).
• Use a special detergent for silk or delicate fabrics.
• Do not rub or wring. Gently rinse and lightly press out the water using a clean towel.
• If machine washing is allowed, use the delicate cycle, place the item in a laundry bag, and choose minimal or no spin.
3. Drying
• Do not dry in direct sunlight — UV rays can weaken silk fibres and fade colours.
• Avoid tumble drying. Wrap the dress in a towel to remove excess water, then lay flat or hang it to air-dry in the shade.
4. Ironing
• Iron on the reverse side while the fabric is still slightly damp, or use a thin pressing cloth.
• Set your iron to the “silk” or low heat setting (up to 110°C).
• Avoid using steam on especially fine silks — it may cause water spots.
5. Storage
• Store your dress in a cool, dry, and dark place, away from sunlight and humidity.
• Use padded or fabric-covered hangers to prevent creases.
• If folding, place tissue or silk paper between folds to preserve shape and texture.
6. Avoid
• Applying perfume, deodorant, or creams directly onto the fabric, as they may cause staining.
• Contact with rough accessories or bags, which can snag or damage the delicate weave.
